Perriniana, also known as Spinning Gum is an open to moderately dense small tree or large shrub with smooth, flaking, cream, grey or green bark. Aromatic, rounded, blue-green juvenile leaves turning shiny and lance-shaped in age and umbels of white or cream flowers in summer. The elliptical juvenile leaves are joined around the stem and when they die, they detach from the stem and can spin round it in a breeze – hence the name 'spinning gum'.
